Jimmys Beach Open Water Swim 2019

Fact Sheet

 

What you need to know:

  • Start times
    • Registration commences 8.00am
    • Registration closes 1 hour prior to each swim start
    • Provision will be made for warm up swims before each race
    • Briefing 9.00am  –You MUST ATTEND OR NOT SWIM
    • 600m swim starts 9.30 am
    • 1500m swim starts 10.30 am
  • Bring plenty of sunscreen protection
  • Water Temperature expected to be around 21 deg
  • Parking is at the car park near the finish/registration area along The Anchorage, Winda Woppa.
  • A shower is available at the car park also adjacent to the toilets situated between the start of The Anchorage and at the North Coast Holiday Caravan Park
  • A mobile toilet is provided at the parking area. Public toilets are also at the end of the Anchorage at Winda Woppa and near the North Coast Holiday Caravan Park.
  •  A change tent will be available in parking area.
  • All competitors need to walk from registration to the starting points. Should walking on sand be a problem for you please let us know so we can arrange transport /assistance.
  • Competitors may use swim aids i.e. fins, wet-suit or snorkel. However, aided swimmers will not be eligible for prizes or placing, unless the average water temperature is below 20 deg then swimmers wearing wetsuits are eligible for prizes and placing

  • Hydration and refreshments will be provided for competitors at the registration area following your swim.

Water Safety

  • Please sign on at the registration desk when you arrive at Jimmys beach.
  • Non Masters NSW swimmers please sign the liability release form. The link for a copy: -Proforma Liability Release
  • Only well prepared and medically fit swimmers should enter. Each swimmer is responsible for their own medical check.
  • A cut-off time of 40 minutes per kilometre may apply. After such time the Referee may order swimmers still on the course to leave the water.
  • Entrants must be at least 18 years of age on the day of the event.
  • Tea Gardens-Hawks Nest Surf Lifesaving Club provides water safety. Inflatable Rubber Boat (IRB) and rescue boards will be in the water.
  • Numbers are capped @150 swimmers for each distance
  • Swimming will be between large floating cones and the shore line from start to finish. Large flags mark the start and finishing lines. If you pull out of the event prematurely it is essential you report to a Beach Safety Person who will be wearing a Flouro vest and also notify the registration desk.
  • In case you need assistance while in the water, raise your hand to alert water safety.
  • Ambulance and Police have been advised of the event.
